Motion: This house believes that war is necessary.
VILLA, Marko Antonio DR.
ReplyDeleteWar is absolutely necessary for the continual technological progress of humankind; technological advances were the largest innovations of the previous World Wars that can account for the technologies used in different defense capabilities countries now use today such as navy, army, marine, airforce, and coastguard technologies.

DeleteThe necessity of war based on the sake of technological advancement is impartial to all evidence. Advancement in weaponry is not the sole basis of technological progress. There are more than 10 instances where technology progressed (in a major way) without the shedding of blood, a case in point today where cellphones became smartphones, adding to the fact that these companies such as Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc.--which are primary leaders in the construction of communicational devices-- also develop objects such as smart televisions and smart refrigerators, which help daily activities more than a nuclear arsenal can, say that technology has never been this sought and developed to maintain and increase quality of human life ever than before.
VILLA, Marko Antonio DR.
DeleteYou deny the technological advances that have been products of war yet you cite the communication technology that have been products of the same technology you deny. Communication technology, microwaves, televisions, computers, the technology that put men on the moon all rooted from all the wars that have passed.
MIGUEL, Juan Inigo S.
ReplyDeleteWar is unecessary in the emergence of the 21st century; global cooperation became the focus of the sovereign states as part of their development, the presence of international organizations increase the level of interaction of each states for mutual cooperation, thus prevents states to engage in to war.
Cooperation that exists within the organizations are because of the interests that a country could get from another but this cooperation could perish when the two countries already have inharmonious interests, especially when a certain country hinders another
DeleteLAVARIAS, Regina Purita B.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary because it ensures progress and development among countries; the government spends a lot of money for technologies during war times, such as in the 1st and the 2nd World Wars like the airplanes, nuclear weapons, medicines, telecommunication lines and other specialized advancements.
LORENO, Andrea Nicole C.
DeleteWars are unecessary especially in the 21st century wherein institutions and organizations became predominant, ensuring cooperation among states and as wars are costly and destructive, it is better to focus more on beneveolent means for progress and development.
CORTEZ, Chlodia Eiriel Ysabella L.
ReplyDeleteWar is considered necessary and an active agent of human progress because of its tendency to focus on acquiring new developments and technologies. Creations such as medicine, which can also be used for civilian purposes, military weaponry like nuclear weapons and other military vehicles. It does not only contribute politically, it also contributed to a mass diffusion of knowledge in the fields of literature, sciences and arts which was the effect of the forced migration of a huge number of the population.
FERNANDEZ, Francis Mark A.
DeleteOne of the duties of international organizations and other sorts of organizations is to mediate one country to another to undertake diplomatic talks and discuss one's interest to another. By that, it would be easier for one's country to improve all its sector without resorting to war
DE JESUS, Laurena S.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary as a last resort in dealing with belligerent countries, these aggressive countries show no respect for international laws and diplomacy, which was seen during World War II in the atrocities of the Axis Powers, thus they can only be dealt with arms and the threat of destruction.
War is necessary when a country is already violating and disrespecting extremely the sovereignty of another country, to ensure the security and survival not just of the country being attacked but also the survival of the race and lineage of the people residing on that country
ReplyDeleteSAPLAD, Chrizelle Jude H.
DeleteOne country to another talk about their interests through the UN with the presence of ambassadors. With that, they discuss their limitations and parameters so it would be vague to say that countries would resort to war with this reason.
War is necessary because there are glitches in the present international political system that cannot be resolved by mere diplomacy-- the ISIS cannot be met at heart by words nor by compromise; whoever is not with them or is within their preference are slaughtered; they are attempting to expand, getting new members from different parts of the world and thus when they finally pursue their interest their opposition is only left two choices: to kill or be killed; therefore war, in this sense, is necessary to get rid of a greater evil that imperils the world.

ReplyDeleteWar is necessary during a critical do-or-die struggle wherein the survival or security of the state is on the line. Wars are deemed necessary when it comes to a point in which the internal or external forces threatens national security or safety such as wars of terrorism, in this case, wars should be fought .

ReplyDeleteWar is not necessary if diplomacy still works for both sides since states do not engage into war, which is the last resort if diplomacy does not work, to fight for something only for them to fail and fall, since the use of threat and war does not really ensure the success of the acquisition of progress or resources and the advancement that they want for their country. It can help in technological advancements, but technological advancements in terms of defense and offense, creates more threat rather than eliminating it.
MAGALONG, Bolivia B.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary for the state to defend itself and its people on being devastated and attacked by foreign countries which destroys the lives of the people and the state; when the security of the state is pushed to the edge, where the survival of the people are at risk and showing virtue did not help them but cause them to fall then war should be push through.
War is unnecessary because states are not the only main actors in the 21st century. The presence of institutions like international organizations are now considered as actors of the international system which can help the states to perform negotiations, trade ,diplomacy and aim for cooperation
DeleteBLANCO, Juan Miguel O.
ReplyDeleteIn the present time war is not necessary because of the technological improvements made by man. The new technology created which provides an easier mode of interaction can be used by conflicting states to overcome communication barriers that may prohibit them from solving their issues. Such technologies may refer to online interaction, faster travel time between countries, and the ability of one state to destroy another state without setting foot on their soil. The good and the bad presented by new technological advancement is enough to persuade states to believe that war is not necessary and can only cause more harm than good.
The technological improvements cannot guarantee abscence of aggression, because these technologies can be used by countries to further their belligerent interest, thus rather than a deterrence it serves as a weapon for state expansion.
DeleteLORENO, Andrea Nicole C.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary for a certain state when it is under a condition wherein it becomes threatened or is about to be destroyed, thus making it its obligation to defend and secure its sovereignty and own nation.
It's unnecessary for a state to engage to war as a form of defense due to mutual cooperation agreed by UN member states, thus preventing states to flex its power over other countries due to the sanctions of the organization.
DeleteFERNANDEZ, Francis Mark A.
ReplyDeleteThe presence of the UN, other international organizations and regional organizations are the mere and evident reason why war is not necessary. More than 150 countries [including those influential countries such as: US, China, Japan and others...] provide resources for the advancement of the military capacity and whatnot for the prevention of war. So it would be inconsequential to consider that these countries which provide resources for the prevention of war would also resort to war.
War is necessary because diplomacy and policies of the United Nations are not, most of the time, effective in enforcing their laws to various sovereign states.
DeleteMARTINEZ, Juan Teodoro A.
ReplyDeleteDeclaring war is important only if the war is because of a strong sense of nationalism whenever a country's nationality and identity as a state is threatened by another self-interested yet irrational state. However, war that is for the purpose of attaining selfish ideals and goals is never deemed necessary, therefore war is not necessary but only building capabilities of defense as a deterrent to selfish states.
QUERUBIN, Giorjann Matthew S.
ReplyDeleteNowadays the necessity of war is blurred due to the increasing cooperation by the actors in the global political arena and once war has been waged by two countries, allies of both states may enforce and join the clash to provide assistance to their ally state which might lead to a massive damage to the population and the environment. Wars do not always ascertain the advancement of mankind, because the massive damage caused by wars can also affect the people who are considered as the workforce who instigate cooperation among states; with the great casualty of people brought forth by wars, true advancement of mankind can never be attained.
SANTOS, katrina Angeline Dr.
DeleteThroughout history, war is always followed with treaties and agreements and policies. With this being said, war has a huge effect on provocation of such which helps in the foundation of peace and order. Cooperation is founded through these and not just through good will. And so, war is necessary for the higher aim of peace and order through pacification of an agressor.
Castillo III, Horacio Tomas T.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary because it is the last resort to resolve any issue within the international political system or region. War is the last resort in the sense that if all diplomatic resources have been exhausted then war is inevitable and that it becomes the most important thing to do. War is the result of a failure of diplomatic relations and in order for one to get a favorable decision only coercive force is the way or means by which it can be achieved.
SUGUITAN ARMITHAN
DeleteWar does not resolve anything, it only disables those at war until they are worn out and unable to further fight for their cause.
TACBOBO, Ma. Vina P.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary as a last resort if the sovereignty of the state has been violated and also, to defend the people from threats and pressure that the other state will imply. If the safety of the country is in danger war should be fought. Certain organizations cannot control all of the states by merely negotiations thus, war is necessary
BATO, Katrina Erika M.
ReplyDeleteThe necessity of war in the 21st century should just be a form of last resort instead of using it as an instigator and active agent for human development. It is true that the previous world wars were able to generate the development of different sectors and fields like those of medicine, military which led to the betterment of the society as a whole, but it is also true that the advancements that characterize the 21st century could allow for different ways of pursuing and putting premium to human development without the use of wars.
EVA, Sarah Angela D.
ReplyDeleteWar is necessary for the society to progress and to transform; the technologies that we have today would not be present if it were not for war. Technologies such as the nuclear weapons, military vehicles, and medicines were invented and created during the World War I and II that were funded by the government led to the advancement of the society.
SUGUITAN, Armithan A.
ReplyDeleteWar is defined as a senseless bringer of nothing but death and terror, putting every of its participant and non-participant at a loss, when these are but a perspective of what war is in its current circumstances and not what it effects in the whole of mankind's history, which is to bring upon great change, one that requires a great transition, and marks an end to an era allowing our race to be reborn and progress into a new era with a greater potential for growth, and the fact that it brings about great fear supports the idea of progress as it results to the emergence of great courage, and great efforts to progress, just as how tough times bring about the strife for excellence of people in their lives; war is a transition phase in our evolution.
