Title: A Comparative Study on Primordial Ethnic Minority Conflict of the Tamil Diaspora in Sri Lanka and Rohingya Diaspora in Myanmar
Countries:
Sri Lanka and Myanmar (Tamil Diaspora- Rohingya Diaspora)
In 1956, the Sri Lankan government introduced a policy that curtailed the rights of the Tamils in Sri Lanka resulting to migration of Tamils to search for better opportunities.
In 1982, the government of Myanmar enacted the Myanmar Nationality Law that did not recognize the Rohingyas as one of the ethnic groups of the country.

Title: A Comparative Analaysis of Burmese and Cambodian Labor Migration in Thailand
Country: Myanmar and Cambodia
In the 1990s, the people of Myanmar and Cambodia have been illegaly migrating to Thailand due to poverty and political instability. With this, Thailand seeks to maintain and limit the migrant status in their country. Bilateral MoUs have already been signed between Thailand and its neighboring countries to prevent illegal migration and provide necessary documents to migrate legaly for employment.
Approved. Remember that your foci are Myanmar and Cambodia on how the Thai laws have affected the migrants.

Title: A Comparative Analysis on Malaysia and Thailand's Response on Rohingya Refugee Crisis
Countries: Malaysia and Thailand
Rohingya refugees are originally from Myanmar but they were denied citizenship that led to their migration to the neighboring states - Malaysia and Thailand. Malaysia and Thailand are both located in the Southeastern part of Asia and they are both members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN. They are both facing the problem on how to accommodate Rohingya. Both opened their doors for Rohingya but with reservations and hostilities - where the refugees are put into asylums and prison cells.
Approved. Foci - Malaysia and Thailand

Title: "A Comparative Analysis on Migration: the Presence of Indian and Pakistani Peoples in GCC/Middle East"
Countries: India and Pakistan
It is evident that there is an increase of migrants coming from the Indian subcontinent and Pakistan in the member states of GCC. The study would focus on the political and socio-cultural similarities of India and Pakistan (i.e. the separation of the two in 1947, the prevalent poverty present, and the mutual religious tension present) that encouraged the a mass number of nationals to leave their respective country. Additionally, the study would look into the possible factors that attracted the respective migrants to choose the countries belonging to GCC.
Theory to be used from the book: (Chapter 3: The dynamics of migrants’ transnational formations: Between mobility and locality by Janine Dahinden)
Theories to be used: World Systems Theory (for top down approach) and Relative Deprivation Theory (for bottom up approach)
Approved.

Title: A Comparative Study Between the Response of Indonesia and the Philippines to the Boat People of Vietnam.
Countries: Indonesia and Philippines
The plague of military conflicts and civil wars escalating into a conventional war between armies backed by the Soviet Union and the United States with its allies, resulted with the Boat People of Vietnam to seek refuge to other states when the Viet Minh took over power. Indonesia during the time of Suharto, and the Philippines during the time of Marcos had the largest population of the Vietnamese refugees, and both of these states also have two each of the largest refugee camps in Asia. They have implemented different policies befitting for their stay in the Galang Refugee Camp in the Riau Islands of Indonesia and the Philippine Refugee Processing Center. The problem at that time was on the limited duration of their stay from six months to a year, resulting to a number of them being forced to resettle to other countries, while others forcingly asked for citizenship rights - primarily because when they arrived, they never wanted to go back to their country or any other country for that matter.

Title: Analysis of the societal integration of the North Korean defectors in South Korea and China
Countries South Korean and China
North Korea has been led with an iron fist, and its government implements strict disciplinarian measures that suppress much of the civil rights of its people. As a result, it forced some of its people to defer the country and flee to countries such as China as well as South Korea. This study shall explore the peoples' living conditions within their new home country and the integration efforts of China and South Korea's respective governments.
