Hardin (1968) described the Tragedy of the Commons using grazing animals, such as cows, freely consuming grass on an open field. Greene in 48 Laws of Power and 33 Strategies of War used actual scenarios also to describe the practicality of his ideas.
In three paragraphs of 3-6 sentences each. Create a scenario applying one of the strategies of war. The situation is, you are in a situation in one of the issues of the final period (see syllabus). But you will have to pick an issue that was not the one you wrote about for the newsletter. Goal is to show how the strategy can be used by a person in advocating for that issue. E.g. i'm fighting for women's rights in congress, and there is this problem with other lawmakers. So I apply strategy number x. And I explain how.
Use your first paragraph to introduce the situation and the strategy. -2pts
Second paragraph explain how the strategy will go (like narrating a story). 2pts
1st paragraph should be clear and informative to a person who does not know what your talking about. -3pts
2nd paragraph should show a good story, not scattered, but flowing narration and not uninteresting (be like Greene). -3pts
The logic of he scenario should attest to the application of the strategy. -5pts
3rd paragraph should directly state (possible in 2-3 sentences) what political-economic resource was used in the startegy - people, network, opportunity etc... -5pts
20pts total
Those are marks not ranges, hence do the requirement get the pt.
