    1. In Samuel Huntington's thesis, he implied that political science is strong and flourishing as long as Democracy is present and political science is weak in the absence of democracy. One proof would be the hatred of dictators among political scientists. Political science is a study of the constrained use of social power, meaning it studies of how power should be limitedly used, and having a dictator who has all the powers, will of course, cause a dispute amongst them. This was disproved by Chile, according to Heine, Chile's Political Science prospered during and after the regime of Pinochet, a Military Ruler. The field of political study, grew and grew, and in fact, even other countries took notice, and were impressed among Chilean Political Scientists. The thesis of Huntington cannot be applicable to different countries since it was negated by Chile, which shows that there flaws in his thesis. I think the field of political science will prosper no matter what, as long as there are people who are interested to learn, and practice the arts of politics.

    2. One basic political concept that I could use, would be the Political Ideologies. Being able to understand it, makes mo more aware of what are the aims of different political actors, such as the Government, and the Society, and it also made me aware of who I am, if I am a Conservative, or Liberal, or even a Socialist person. Another concept, would be the Different Approaches in Political Science, namely, Traditionalism, Behavioralism, Post-Modernism, and etc.I could use these different approaches in writing thesis, research, and case studies, for a diverse set of propositions, which is an important factor in studying Political Science. Lastly, it would be Comparative Politics, being able to understand the different forms of government, makes me think and weigh which form of government is better based on the performances and practicability of each. With it I was able to appreciate more the different political institutions, from their processes up to their leaders.

    1. In the thesis of Samuel Huntington, it is stated that political science will not flourish in an authoritarian government. He said it is because political science requires political participation and this participation is present only in democratic states. But there is an incident that this thesis was countered. The Chilean political science flourished during the reign of General Pinochet which was an authoritarian ruler. Combinations of several circumstances led this flourishing. Many researchers from Chile were able to study and have training abroad and the banning of the teaching of political science gave political scientists more time to have their research for countering the authoritarian regime. Thus making it clear that even a dictatorial government can lead to the development of political science.

    2. One of the political science concepts that I think will help me in the future are the basic concepts of politics which are power, justice and order. Power is important in politics since without it, authorities will not be able to enforce laws and make the people follow, while justice is also essential because it is the right of the people to know their liberties and rights in the government, then lastly order, which is needed in developing a peaceful and organized society. These will help me in learning how politics will continue working and progressing. Another political concept is the growth of interest groups which are classified in different views concerning the interests of the masses, the elites and others. Knowing these, I will be sensitive to the beliefs of people according to their interest groups. Lastly, factors that determine the power of interest groups. These factors are concerned with the size of the group which has the concept that if an interest group is larger, it can influence more; unity, which if a group is united, they can address their interest more clearly; leadership, if they have good leadership, they can communicate effectively to the masses; then social status and wealth, which is clear that money can greatly contribute to the group's interest.

    1. Heine’s evaluation about the political science in Chile discussed on how political science could be implemented and flourished even there is no democracy, in contrast of Huntington’s proposition. According to Huntington, he said that political science has only developed with accordance of political participation and it follows a connection to democracy as a chronic one. His central motion that when democracy is strong, political science is also strong and vice versa, but what happened in Chile disproved Huntington’s proposition. Authoritarian and not democracy rules at that time in Chile but still, there were pieces of evidence and marks of a blooming profession there like emergence major programs that could produce professionals and experts, journals and multitude of invitations extended to political scientists to join the faculty that consequently may results to more accurate and insightful ideas. This thesis only shows that it depends on the rules and regularities if an ideology could be flourished. The unstable and changing acts of people and events are the only determinant if a discipline could be flourished or not.
    2. Basic concepts such as Subject Political Culture, Elements of National Power and Different kinds of Political Ideologies are some of the useful and rigorous concepts among the rest. Subject Political Culture is an essential concept as it that might help in determining if a system could be implemented in a particular country, as for example, if the Philippines is characterized with Subject Political culture, it is possible that a Parliamentary system could be implemented because the subject political culture are passive in discussing and paying attention to politics and this negligence will be the root of implementing such regime. Another proper concept is such knowing the Elements of National Power, considering Philippines again as an example, knowing its best and finest source and elements that most lacking would help in balancing the country. Natural resources is the best source of the Philippines among the elements as the Philippines is well known for its picturesque characteristics. However, Social Cohesiveness is the most lacking element of this country as people are being indifference with each other, considering solidarity is the key of succession in a particular country. In knowing this elements, it could maintain its best and bloom its weakness to be a better country. Lastly, knowing the Political ideologies could help me in knowing on what is the goal of a certain law and what it attempts to perceive. Stating the Cybercrime law as an example, it may distinguish in Conservatism ideology as it attempts to prevent the transition away from its jurisdiction based on the traditional values and norms. These concepts are some determinants and tools for understanding and knowing what is currently happening.

    1. Huntington's thesis argued that Political Science was an intellectual and moral discipline. He believed that political scientists and political science, itself, need to do good and promote political reform for this is a part of their profession. He backed up his claims by providing an analogy of the relationship of a dictator to a political scientist, and a democratic leader to a political scientist is. Wherein which dictators do not like Political Scientist due to the fact that they are independent and critical scholars, and they are relied upon them as advisors. While a democratic leader has an opposite relationship to a political scientist.
He further discussed this by proving how dictators treated political science and how they suppressed political science and its reforms. He gave an example to prove his claims. Where in the Chilean Regime, which was led by General Pinochet, tried to eradicate and suppress political science by use of force. Pinochet burned books, and intervened in University affairs. But at the end of this regime, Chilean Political Science grew better and stronger by having and achieving certain goals like; having three master's programs, five professional journals, and several other works which published political science work. Huntington also discussed how political scientists opposed to military rule which also brought to the downfall or Pinochet's reign.

    2. I chose Comparative Politics as one of my political science concepts because comparative politics can or will be able to give me an insight or understanding of our own political institutions. The next would be National Interest. Because, as it states, in order to achieve a goal that a nation is pursuing, I must understand what choices and decisions are for the good of the nation and the interest of the nation and its constituents. And lastly, I chose Political Recruitment. Because political recruitment is the process of selecting people for political activity and governmental affairs. I would need to understand how Political Recruitment works, so that I may be able to choose those people who would play important and vital roles in my welfare and be able to benefit me as well as they will be able to benefit from me.

    1. Samuel P. Huntington insisted that "political science is not just an intellectual discipline but also a moral one". It means that political participation is important and no participation will give no competition for power. If the democracy become strong the political science will have more power and if the power decrease the power of political science will be lower. In case of many countries where experienced dictatorship might know the importance of political participation, but for example of Chile, it improved that the thesis is not really truth, analyzing development of politics Chile, despite of long term of dictator, Chile should continually developed its politics.

    2. Lottery by Francesco Guicciardini is the first one. Because it will make the equal election and give more opportunities to non-wealthy people. For second, the federalism might help us to develop independent policies specified for each culture and nation in each states, having independent sovereign and make ballance of force among countries. Lastly Concept of Rule of law(Dura Lex, Sed Lex = the law is harsh but it is the law).By st. Thomas Aquinas he suggested 4 elements of law, which is ordinance of reason, promulgated, by a person in authority and for a common good. If we follow those rules, we might have properly allocated power of law. In conclusion, by Mixing Lottery and Election system, Federalism, and Thomas Aquinas's rules, we can make pure democracy that justice, equality, liberty will work for all people in the state.

    1. Samuel P. Huntington's proposition is that political science is found in democracy. Based on the research, it is found out that his observation on the flourishing of political science in Chile is well- founded. There are masters degree, works which published political science, and association of several members. This is disapproved by dictators because they are against political scientists and democracy.

    2. The concepts I chose are justice, comparative politics and public administration. Justice is equally important as the other concepts of politics. Without justice there can be no order in the government and it must be dispensed accordingly. Comparative Politics compares the different forms of government, economic developments, policies, and traditions that they could share to each other. Their political system may be different from each other but they can use these differences to promote values and good will to each other. Public Administration refers to how each government operates. It is a very essential tool of the government in the exercise of its duties for the purpose of achieving its goals and functions as an entity.

    1. One of the thesis that was discussed in class is the thesis of Samuel P. Huntington. He argues that, political participation is important, because political science developed because of the expansion of political participation. Therefore, as a country become a democracy, political science is also growing. But there are arguments that contradicting Huntington's thesis. And here is one argument, in Chile, After 15 years of democratic life, political scientists in Chile published lesser books, monographs and articles than the past years and what they are producing today is not that of the past years which are more informative. In conclusion, Huntington's thesis didn't work in Chile because political science lie low in Chile when their government became democratic.

    2. The political science concepts that I will discuss are Dictatorship, Authoritarian Regime and Totalitarian Regime which defines country that are not democratic. Dictatorship is one-man rule. A dictator has the only power and authority and his power is unlimited that even his position cannot be replaced by another. In an Authoritarian Regime, citizens have little or no influence over the decisions made by the government and their freedom is limited. Unconstrained power is present in this kind of regime. Lastly the Totalitarian Regime, it is a kind of government that doesn't only dominate politics and government, but it also sought to control all aspects of human life, including personal and social life.

1.) The Huntington’s thesis about the existence of political science in a non-democratic political system. He states that political science is stronger in a democratic government system and it doesn’t exist or it is weak if there is no democracy. Political scientists study about the competition for power going on a democratic system and it means that if a system is non-democratic, there is nothing a political scientist should be analyzed because there’s no competition at all. But there is one event that occurred that in a non-democratic country, political science has flourished, it is in Chile. Chile is once a dictatorial country with one ruler, the evidences of political science has flourished are: political scientists in Chile produced many books, journals and articles, they also have been invited to be a visiting professors in some popular universities in the world, some political science institutions was founded, and social sciences courses became degrees. This thesis, wherever there is the thirst of a man seeking knowledge, there’s be none that could stop him, like what happened in Chile. It doesn’t mean that if your dictator is harsh or cruel, that doesn’t mean you should stop acquiring knowledge that you need.

2.) The political concepts that I think will be useful for me in the future are; comparative politics, this concept may help me in the future because I need to learn how to compare and evaluate the political systems. Also, this may give me some clarifications of the distinction of the said systems. Second, the reason why some groups are powerful, this comes with the size, unity, leadership, wealth, strategies and geographical concentrations. This will help me a lot because if I’ll become a political analyst, I would be studying how these interest groups became powerful and spread their influence. Lastly, international relations as a political science student, and maybe soon to be a political scientist, I need to know and analyze the relationship between nations. This may help me to understand why a nation is helping another nation and how does war starts. These political concepts are useful to my future as a political science student.

    1. The political thesis that was discussed in class, which the writer would like to explain is that of Samuel Huntington. The thesis in particular talks about when and where political science would likely develop. He argues that if a person lives in a democratic country, he/she could expect that political science would develop and will produce great political scientist also. On the other end, if a person lives in a non-democratic country, which can be a dictatorial, authoritarian, or totalitarian one, he/she could conclude that political science would have no future in his/her country. This thesis was formulated based on his assumption that there would be no discipline of political science if political participation is absent and apparently, political participation is only present in democratic countries. By this argument, he was able to conclude that democracy and political science is connected and therefore, he was able to come up with the thesis presented earlier.
    2. The writer would present 3 basic political concepts that he thinks would help him in the future. First is Political Ideology. Political Ideology would help the writer to set a path for his future because this concept will enable him to know in where his beliefs fall into and that if he is able to know where it is, he could better know what he would likely be in the future. Second is the concept of Political Economy. Political Economy would help the writer because if ever he will plan to run for office in the government, he would know how to manage the economy well and to know what economic things he would not want to meet along the way. Lastly, Comparative Politics because in this sub-discipline of political science, as a political scientist in the future, he should be able to know the differences of the governments of different countries. From know the differences and common errors, he may be able to formulate some ideas and contribute proposals that could enhance governance of the citizenry and close loophole if he would encounter one.

    1. The thesis of Samuel P. Huntington concerns about the need of democracy for political science to develop. It concluded that the emergence of the other encourages the development of the other. Dictators don't like political scientists while democratic leaders tolerate them. The anti-thesis presented is the Chilean experience of authoritarianism. The Chilean political science become stronger and better at the end of the rule. But there is doubt of the Chilean political science origin. This somehow proves that Huntington's thesis was partially correct.
2.Power, which by definition is the influence over others, is one of those basic political science concepts that will be useful to me in the near future. The other one is order, defines as the arrangement of sequence. Lastly, justice which concerns on equality. The ability to influence, to settle and to justify are essentials in one's own morals and ideologies. In the future, whether political scientist or not, morals and ideologies are certainty of life. Thus, I've find these tools usable in the future.

    1. One political thesis discussed was the thesis of Mccormick about Machiavelli and Gucciardini's combination of lottery and election in election processes.
Its aim is to prevent those wealthy citizens in overpowering the poor by having equal distribution of positions in the government. The process
of lot-election would be: the names will be submitted to the lot and this will determine the candidates that will soon be elected by the election process.
By using the lottery process, the possibility of wealthy citizens winning the election is only by chance. However, the anti-thesis was Mccormick's state of
    government.

    2. The 3 basic concepts in Politics that will be useful to useful to use in the future is first the power. Without the power, the government could not enforce
law within the state and its people. The second one is the authority. The authority of the government allows them to command and make their members obey
the law. And lastly, the order. It composes of several sets of rules and regulations, practices and other arrangements that set the political system based on different ideologies and principles. Without all these, the
governement will not have the capacity to influence its members in their society.

    1. In Samuel P. Huntington’s thesis, “One Soul at a Time: Political Science and Political Reform”, he proposed an idea wherein he stated that where there is Democracy flourishing in one country, political science is also prevalent. Theodore Lowi also sided with Huntington in stating that political science is usually suppressed in an authoritarian regime. Jorge Heine, however, provided an anti-thesis wherein he provided a strong fact in regards to what happened when Chile was under Allende and Pinochet. The two dictators suppressed the democratic rights of Chileans but, at the same time, this did not restrict political science from growing in the country. Journals and books were published and schools with courses related to political science were established. Huntington’s thesis did not apply to this Chilean experience because it is an astray from his idea, but it does not mean that it did not apply to other countries as well.

    2. One the basic political concepts I could use in the future would be Political behavior. Knowing the classification of people in the society gives me a background on how they function and who they are in the society. As an aspiring diplomat, International Relations would assist me in the future. Giving me a background of what other countries want, which is peace and order, would then lead me to rational actions I would do as a future diplomat. In line with the knowledge of International Relations, Comparative Politics is one of the concepts I learned. Studying the difference and similarities of politics in different countries would enlighten me why a specific country is acting that way. In this way, political systems will be established and clearer relations among countries will be understood.

    1. Jorge Heine discussed Huntington's thesis about the effects of the flourishing of political science in a non-democratic government. His work said that in a place where democracy is low political science is also low because it is commonly the first to be repressed. At that time, there was a coup led by General Pinochet. His thesis was falsified because even though Chile is under an authoritarian regime, the country's political science is growing and it has showed the signs of it: 3 master's degree, 5 professional journals, published political science works, professional association, and invitations for Chilean political scientist from big universities. Huntington's thesis suggests that political science needs a healthy environment to flourish and growing its discipline. For example, the Philippines, being a democratic country is able to exercise political science because of the freedom and liberty we are provided by the constitution thus, we are given the chance to apply political science.

    2. The concept of interest groups. I think it is very helpful since it has the idea of manipulating people which is very appealing to most people especially if an individual is aspiring to be a lawyer. The concept of Party Systems. For me this is very alluring, by studying this concept, it helps an individual have an edge to other people when it comes to whether which party he/she should join during elections. The concept of Lot as the mode of choosing political leaders leaders. I like it because it gives the people a fair chance of winning elections, it weakens the influence of wealth and it is the measure of true democracy.

    1. Explain one political thesis discussed/mentioned in class, provide the proofs, anti-thesis, and practical applications of such political idea.

Jorge Heine’s thesis - Democracy, Dictatorship, and the Making of Modern Political Science – attested that it is possible for political science to flourish to a high degree under a military regime. This was proven by the occurrences under General Pinochet’s dictatorship wherein political science ultimately had undergone massive advancements. Though politics was prohibited in the country, private research centers were created and those who were in exile took advantage of the opportunity to study the flaws of Chilean democracy, either in the U.S. or in Europe. After that, Chileans, equipped with graduate studies, returned to their country and focused on the nature of the military regime, wrote for publications and started conferences. All these lead to demonstrations against the government, forced exiles were allowed to return, politics and book censorship was lifted, and finally, the endgame of Pinochet’s dictatorship.

The anti-thesis to this are Huntington’s and Lowi’s propositions that political science inevitably fails in an authoritarian regime.

This political idea - that the distress of authoritarianism serves as an stimulus to the development of political science - applies to any country bringing to an end a dictatorship and undergoing democratization.

    2. Explain 3 basic political science concepts that will be useful to you in the future. These must be from the photocopies and must not be among those discussed in class.

The following are three of the many key concepts that shall be integral parts of my study as a political scientist:

First is Structures of Political Institutions. To understand the political world, one must recognize and be able to differentiate the structures of the government – executive, legislative, administrative and the judicial structures. As a political scientist, it must be known how and why a certain government body cannot function without the other.

Next is the Arrangements of Political Institutions. Before becoming a political analyst, one must be able to comprehend the various classifications of structural elements, whether democracy or not, whether a regime is constitutional or non-constitutional, and the like.

Finally is Political Economy for a political scientist must also learn that the discipline is linked with different disciplines and without the integration of economics, it would be impossible for a political system to intervene with economic activities especially in a contemporary political world.

    1. HUNTINGTON'S THESIS- huntington said that political science is connected to democracy. When democracy is weak political science is weak, hen democracy is strong plitical science is strong. the only question is what led political science flourished during th time od pinochet. i think political science flourished during the time of pinochet because political scientist thought they are the ones who need to make a move and change what is happening

    2. government, power and legitimate authority
government- the government are the persons who make and enforce law for te people.
power- power is the most basic of the concepts because of power the authorities or the government have the capacity to influence the people
legitimate authority - legitimate authority is the legal right for the government to make the people follow.

  20. 1. Jorge Heine managed to disprove the thesis of Samuel Huntington which was that “Where Democracy is strong political science is strong where democracy is weak political science is also weak”. Huntington argued that if the power is present to only one person and not to the public the political science will not be as strong. Heine successfully disproved this thesis by thoroughly explaining what had happened with Chile. Chile has been under the strict dictatorship rule of Pinochet but political science was still able to grow through different means. The mere fact that political science existed and better yet, flourished in an area where Democracy does not exist disproves the thesis of Huntington.

    2. Power is one of the many political concepts I have learned about in Pol201. Power is basically forcing someone to do something he does not want. When you can do this you have the said power. In the future learning how to manipulate people would be a very helpful skill that would aid me throughout life. Another political concept is the one about the political systems. This talks about the legislature, execute and the judiciary. The three branches of the government. Knowing about the different branches and what they can do and cannot do would also be very helpful in the future because knowing their limitations can be used to my advantage. Moreover, knowing that they cannot (Nay, should not) be able to affect each other’s duties would also be used to my advantage when dealing with government or political works. Lastly, the Regimes where we learn about the constitutional, unconstitutional, democratic, authoritarian and totalitarian forms of rule. We learn that there are different forms of rule and what are the pros and cons of the different ways of ruling. This can be useful for me in the future when I become a leader (student leader government leader of any type of leader) I would be able to know the best and most effective way of ruling or of directing orders. And would be best ruler I can be with the best ways I know how to rule

    1. In Huntington’s thesis, he said that in a state where democracy and the rights of every individual in participating in government activities are limited, political science is weak. A good empirical evidence of his thesis, is in the United States of America, where democracy is rich, political science is also strong and flourishing. But for Heine, J, in his anti-thesis in Huntington’s he said that Huntington is wrong. Because in Chile during Pinochet’s authoritarian regime where democracy is weak, political science grew. That even it is an authoritarian regime or democracy, political science will still find its own way to improve the discipline. Huntington’s thesis for me, should be amended , because Heine already showed us its flaws that even in an authoritarian regime, political science will foster.

    2. One of the concept of Political science I chose is Political Theory, because I think Political Theory will help me understand the real word of politics and power, and it will develop me as a person. Thus helping me to examine myself and give critical capabilities as a citizen. The next would be Comparative Politics , for me it will help me to decide more carefully and understand different institutions and compare different ideas that will help me to create my own idea about politics to create a more just and humane institution. International Relations would the last one I chose. Because I think the study of International Relations will teach me on how an I protect my country from oppression from the superior ones. These Political Concepts will help me improve as a political scientist and help this country to create a better place for the next generations.

    1) Huntington’s thesis stated that political science is strong where democracy is exists, while Political Science is weak if there is no democracy. His thesis is already proven given the fact that events happen where democracy became weak and political science became almost nothing. Political science will not flourish in an authoritarian country because the people is constrained and restricted by the laws created by the government. But Chilean dictators disproved his thesis, stating than Political Science prospered more in a dictatorial Chile rather than in democratic Chile. I think that Democracy is still needed to flourish political science. Study of political science is the way people who wants change thus if democracy does not exist then political science cannot flourish as it needs vocal opinion and participation of people.

    2) The first basic political concept that would be useful to me is the International Relations. After learning about it, it makes me feel more involved in political talks; I can give more serious comments about it because I have the grasp of the topic. Second is Political Ideologies, after understanding it, it makes me more knowledgeable in terms of how countries decide according to the ideologies they follow, on how they act as the ideology suggests and lastly how the ideology affect the people in the country, if the ideology restrains them or gives them freedom. And the last political concept that will help me is Political Behaviour, it will help me understand why the political actors act that way, or how a policy will affect the people once it is legalized.

    1. Samuel P. Huntington's thesis stated that democracy thrives where political science flourishes. The discipline of political science, according to him, is not just something intellectual but rather something moral, in which he further proves by saying that the need to do good is something that comes with the profession.
However, Jorge Heine made a contrast to this thesis in his essay which was Chile's condition under a dictatorial rule. How did political science flourish under this type of regime? In a state of national transgressions, Chile used this to her advantage by having researches done overseas and having graduates study political science at universities in the United States and Europe. This contrast between Huntington's thesis and the state of Chile piqued global interest, an indication that adversity provides opportunities for a nation to grow.
    2. The three political science concepts that will be most useful to me in the future are: justice, power, and order. Justice, according to Plato, is carrying out one's duty in the society. The roles of everyone in the community must be appropriately distributed and allocated and in order for the society to perform well, one must have to do one's part. Power, however, requires innate skill and wisdom for one to compel. To have influence over a majority of people is something that future leaders and pioneers must wield to ensure a progressive community. This does not divert much from the third political science concept which is order. Power is essential because it maintains order, while order is how society reciprocates to the rule of the government.

1.)Samuel Huntington's thesis proposed that when the democracy is strong the political science is weak; when the democracy is weak the political science is also weak, for example the United States is democratic country that is why political science flourished there, while in China they are not focused in democracy they are more on advancing in different areas of expertise, this thesis tells us that when a state focused more on governing the people by telling them the norms the state is democratic while the government give strict rules that should be followed the people engage on other things they can enjoy with. But in every thesis there can be a anti thesis. Jorge Heine proved his anti thesis to Huntington by stating that Chile, which is under a dictatorial rule before flourished their political science.
2.)The first concept is mixing lottery and election, this is a very useful concept that the state can use in the future because it shows democracy by means of no one has the advantage over the other this is very useful in the case of the Philippines today Filipinos vote for the people not because they did good things in our country but just because they are famous personalities, second is political ideologies it can be use for me in the future by means of knowing what should I do if i wanted to be a politician or a public servant someday one should set his or her own principles or ideals, and lastly political behavior is useful for everyone if one knows the behavior of their leader of someone representing them, the people should know his/her ideologies for the people to know if they choose the correct person in that position.

    1. One of the political thesis discussed in class was that of Samuel Huntington. His thesis was, political science needs a democratic environment to develop and flourish, and he said that “where democracy is strong, political science is strong: where democracy is weak political science is weak. One of the proofs given where political science flourished is that of one of the largest and most strong democracies in the world, the United State. In a democratic government there is a lot of political competitions and in that, one can easily say that there is the existence of political participation by which political scientists needs. Dictators obviously don’t like political scientists for we know that dictators are independent and don’t want to be interrupted by others specially political scientists, so it is likely to say, as in Huntington’s thesis that political science will not flourish and develop in a authoritarian government. Chile provided us the anti-thesis of Huntington’s thesis, because of the evidences present in their government which shows that even if they have an authoritarian government political science flourished and developed, these are: the establishment of Latin-American Faculty of Social Sciences, the founding of the Institute of International Studies in the University of Chile, the birth of the Institute of Political Science in Catholic University and the publishing of books and journals. So, we can see that political science don’t need democracy to flourish but in can also be an authoritarian government and thus political science as an intellectual and moral discipline is unstoppable.

    2. The 3 basic political science concepts that I greatly think will be useful to me in the future are power, order and justice. If I have a power I will be able to control, influence and manipulate others thus making them do or want what I want whether voluntarily or involuntarily because I have the authority in which people needs to follow. Secondly, order, if I place a set of orders in a society - an aggregation of individuals who share a common identity like creating a government for the people and a nation there will be an organized community that people will like to live in and where peace will prevail. Lastly, justice, if there is the existence of justice people will be relieved for they know that they have fairness and equality. To know if there is justice it should be for the accessibility of all and not for few and most importantly it should take no sides, no family, no special relations, no bias. These 3 basic political science concepts will be of great help and most especially when attained and balance at the same time will lead to success and a great achievement that anyone could be proud of.

    1. Huntington's thesis centers on his proposition that when democracy is weak, political science is weak and when democracy is strong, political science is strong. He mentioned the impossibility of the development of political science in the absence of political participation because if there is no competition in power then political scientists won't have anything to work with. One of the proofs mentioned is that Dictators are not fond of them due to their tendency of being independent. Countering Huntington's thesis Jorge Heine provided an anti-thesis showing that political science shows signs as a flourishing profession in Chile despite being under an authoritarian ruler named Pinochet. Chile's political scientists establish their names that they were even recognized by international countries. Huntington's thesis although applicable is not a hundred percent accurate because if it is, then Heine wouldn't have argued in opposition. As i understand it both of the thesis discussed tells that, political science does not rely on the kind of government a country have, the development of the profession relies on how the political scientists works.

    2. The first political concept that I think can help me in the future is the concept democracy, because as a citizen of a democratic country it is very important to know the true meaning of democracy. I can see myself being a responsible citizen in the future but I cannot accomplish that if I don't understand how the government works, learning the meaning of democracy help me abide its standards. Second is Political Power, as said power is the currency of all politics, having much power can blind your eyes with selfishness but once understood it can help me enforce laws, impose changes and etc. for the benefit of myself and the common good. The concept of power is very important in the field of politics because that will be your edge among others. Lastly is political behavior, knowing how a particular political actor works can be an advantage to my part since I would know if he/she acts justly. I would know how the people, the government and an individual acts, and it will surely help me to be a wise political actor in the future. Knowing all these three basic concepts can prepare me on what to expect once I entered the real world of politics.

    1. In the thesis of Samuel P. Huntington, he explained that political science is not only intellectual, but also moral in nature as a discipline. It is in the political scientist's nature to actively participate for the betterment of a political system. As such, when political participation is made limited or outright forbidden the development of political science stops, thus democracy and development of political science are two deeply connected concepts. Proving this thesis would be the existence of the United States, a democracy which is known for it's contributions to the development of the discipline. Disproving it, on the other hand, would be Chile under the authoritarian regime of Augusto Pinochet. After seventeen years under the regime, political science' progress in Chile not only did not stop but managed to flourish to a point where it was said to be better than others Latin America. Practical application of the idea would be to promote democracy on a grand scale to further improve political science.

    2. First would be the classification of political systems using taxonomies, where in one is to distinguish and put into different classifications different countries. Such as identification of countries that are democratic and which are not. For political scientists non-democratic institutions that put down the practice of the discipline are the least favorable. If we are able to identify which kind of systems/institutions are democratic we can attempt to promote the widespread growth of said kinds of political systems and institutions. Second would be interest groups and lobbying, a concept where in people with the same interest will group together and try to influence a member/s of the legislatures' policy choices to their best interest. In the future once we are adults and have fully grown as a political scientist, we too might lobby as one way of participating politically. Lastly the concept of party ideologies in which we can identify where we stand politically, from the right wing that believes those we elect are above us and lead us to the left wing where those we elect on represent us and we stand equal with them.

    1) Explain one political thesis discussed/mentioned in class, provide the proofs, anti-thesis, and practical applications of such political idea.

    - Huntington's Thesis studies the close link and good relationship between political science and democracy, thus its antithesis tends to highlight both what's wrong with politics and how difficult, complex and uncertain it is to correct what's wrong. Political scientists come to learn only too well the truth. As political scientist quickly discover the behavior of politicians, bureaucrats and votes and the operations of political institutions and processes often leave much to be desired. As Huntington stated, there's an extremely close relationship exists between political science and democracy. It can be argued that political science as a discipline, advances the cause of democracy and political science can't work without the political participation within democracy. Let's talk about proofs here. We are all familiar with the term “democracy.” If you were asked to define this term, you might make a statement like the following: “Democracy is government by the people.” You would, of course, be correct—democracy is government by the people. But, in order to evaluate whether or not a particular government is fully democratic or is more or less democratic when compared with other governments, we would need to have more precise criteria with which to measure or assess democracy. Most political scientists agree that these criteria should include the following rights and freedoms for citizens such as freedom to form and join organizations, freedom of expression, suffrage, free and fair elections and institutions for making government policies depend on votes and other expressions of preference. By adopting these kinds of criteria, we now have a definition that will allow us to measure democracy, thus making political scientist more accurate and precise.

    2) Explain 3 basic political science concepts that will be useful to you in the future. These must be from the photocopies and must not be among those discussed in class.

I chose civic culture, institutional arrangements and political parties. Civic culture refers to those important principles that serve as the firm foundation for our democratic form of government. It is vital for us to know Civic Cultures for us to have the right assessment and orientation toward political system in both the political and governmental senses, to have the pride in our own nation, ability to talk freely and frequently about politics and active participation in local government activities and parties. Then the Institutional Arrangements describes those structures, functions, and processes of a society that relate to government and politics. This is another model, or conceptual framework used in the discipline of political science to analyze and understand political behavior. Lastly, Political Parties provide the connection between politics and society. In this sense they ensure the citizens are permanently capable to act politically. They articulate and integrate different interests, visions and opinions.

    1. Huntington's thesis presented the close relationship of democracy and political science, stating that one is strong when the other is strong, and one is weak when the other is weak. It goes on to say that dictators, as a rule, are generally wary of political scientists, typically because a discipline that criticizes those in power does not bode well to those actually in power. Heine's work, on the other hand, presented a thriving political science discipline in Chile under what was considered to be one of its most brutal and longest lasting regime - this of course, goes against Huntington's thesis because the discipline flourished greatly under a dictatorship and not a democracy, which Huntington says is the only type of government that political science may be able to prosper. There are always exceptions to a rule and while Huntington's thesis may say otherwise, dictatorial rule may possibly serve as a fostering environment for the discipline rather than a total suppression of it. However, it must be noted that while this proved true for Chile, it does not necessarily mean that every other political science discipline will flourish under an authoritarian rule; it takes people - interested, dedicated and committed to the science - (and maybe a special set of events) that makes a discipline thrive more than anything.

    2. One of the basic concepts of Political Science that could be of most use to us is International Relations, as it helps promote the good standing and image of the country among the nations of the world and strengthens the status of a nation, teaching it in line with mutual development and cooperation among countries of the world. Sufficient knowledge of International Relations will enable us to open avenues for vital agreement that will strengthen the nation's economy and financial status. Another one is Comparative Politics, which is essential to correct and enhance an existing political system, such as the present system used in our government. This political concept enables us to expertly determine and find out the weaknesses or strengths of our and other political systems which may be beneficial to the way we run our system of government. It helps us avoid flawed systems and learn from others. Lastly is Public Policy and Administration; it is the cornerstone of good government. A sound public policy, which benefits and helps the people and our institutions will go a long way towards the stability of our country. Administration is the key to the proper implementation of these policies and the study of these two may help toward the stabilization of our economy.

1.) McCormick's thesis presents ways of choosing a leader. He showed that the different combination of lot and election of nominators and nominees result to the existence of different types of government. He used the political situations in Florence as an example. The anti-thesis that would counter McCormick's is Plato's "The Republic", because Plato's idea is that a Philosopher king be the one to rule a state. It counter-argues McCormick's thesis because the way of Lot election requires no qualifications, but in Plato's idea, the leader should be a Philosopher King.

2.)One concept that will aid me in the future is the concept of Administration. Through acquiring knowledge regarding this concept, I can yearn to know the different processes done by government departments, ministries, agencies and bureaus through the records they keep. For as a citizen, it is also my duty to know what the government of my state is up to. Another is the political concept of Judicial structures. If I am to pursue law, I have to know the system of court processes.Lastly, I think the concept of Party ideologies can be useful for me in the future, as a part of the state, I have to know the agendas that those in power are up to.

In Samuel Huntington's thesis, he explained that political science will only flourish if Democracy is present and it will be improbable if not impossible without democracy. \It will not flourish because dictators will basically limit Political Scientists so that they will be able to hold on their position longer. Without the freedom that only a democratic state could give, political science will not flourish. But then this was disproved by Heine's thesis where he discussed how political science flourished in Chile despite them being a dicatatorial state. Political Science prospered during and after the regime of a military ruler, Pinochet. The political study grew that even other countries took noticed. They were impressed with Chilean Political Scientists. Heine's thesis showed loop holes in Huntington's thesis proving that political science will flourish so long as their are people willing and wanting to learn.

    2. First will be National Interest because I am living in a democratic state and it is importat that I understand not only the needs but as well as the wants of the peoople. It is important that we pursue the interest of the people most specially if it will do good to them. Second is Political Ideology because I believe that I must be aware on which kind of Political Actor I may be. This is essential since this will help me determine which way of politics I would go. Would I be a conservative or liberal etc.? Lastly would be Political recruitment because since it deals with the process of selecting people for govenment affairs and political activity, then I would have to be able to exercise this power to my advantage. I must have knowledge in this concepts for me to be able to effectively implement and to be able to choose the right people to act for me.

1.) One of the theses we discussed in the classroom is the thesis of Samuel P. Huntington. He discussed his central proposition that “Where democracy is strong, political science is strong, where democracy is weak, political science is weak.”The political behavior of the people towards political issues serves as proof like here the EDSA 1 and 2 here in the Philippines. The anti thesis for Huntington’s thesis is Chile because it opposes the proposition. The proposition of Samuel Huntington is can be applied in revolution of Filipino people against the “Pork barrel issue” it will show how political scientist together with people will protest against the abuse of powers of the government officials.

2.) There is 3 political science concept that will help me in the future. First, Political behavior it is my or others people reaction in a certain issue. It will help me to speak up for myself. Second, Political Ideology is my belief in the political world. This will set my standard in viewing or judging a certain issue. Lastly, Conservatism because i believe that people are not equal especially in their capacity to think. This will help me to pursue and act as higher being because I'm a student of political science

    1. One political thesis discussed was the thesis of Mccormick about Machiavelli and Gucciardini's combination of lottery and election in election processes. It was first introduced and tested in Florence and Roman Republican politics.
However, the anti-thesis was Mccormick's state of
    government.

    2. The 3 basic concepts in Politics that will be useful to use in the future is first the power.

    1. The thesis that I would discuss is Huntington's thesis that Heine wants to prove wrong. Huntington correlates democracy and political science; he believes that when democracy is strong political science is strong, or vice versa. Heine proved it wrong because democracy is not just a reason to produce good political science. To have a good political science, it has to be carefully studied. In Pinochet's regime, practice of politics was banned but some Chilean family who has a wealthy background sent their child abroad to study politics in some leading universities in the world.

    2. The 3 basic political concepts are power, authority, and order. Power is the authority of the government to make laws, without power, the government has no right to make or enforce laws. Authority, it is the power to influence or command other people to do something that implies legitimacy. Order, it characterize the procedures, structures or rules of the political system in society. These 3 basic political concept are the most important because it is the primary source of the government to rule the state or the society.

1.) In John P. McCormick’s thesis, it is about modern republics that neglect the establishment of formal institutions that prevents wealthy citizens from exerting excessive political influence and they abandon extra-electoral techniques traditionally employed to keep office holders accountable. Encouraged by Guicciardini’s and Machiavelli’s reflections on the Roman, Venetian and Florentine constitution, this thesis highlights three forgotten practices that facilitate popular control of both economic and political elites. These are the, magistrate procedures combining lottery and election, offices or assemblies excluding the wealthy from eligibility, and political trials enlisting the entire citizenry on prosecutions and appeals. McCormick presents this thesis as an analysis of regimes that evaluated the wealth containment potential of various magistrate selection methods and supplying with a tribunate reminiscent of elite accountability institutions in pre-eighteenth century popular governments.

2.) The first one that I could use is the comparative politics because it seeks to explain differences between as well as similarities among countries. It will also be useful for me in the future because it involves the comparison of the world’s political system for it is particularly interested in exploring patterns, processes, and regularities among political systems. The second one is idealism for it focuses on a peaceful world order in international relations and lastly is power because it influences the behavior of people and power has force to perform a certain act, to affect the people or the ability to control.

    1. One political thesis that was discussed in class was that of Huntington. He said that political science will not grow let alone flourish in an authoritarian government where in the state's influence reach down to every aspect of society. He claimed that political science is the first discipline to be repressed and the last discipline to be revived when facing authoritarian regimes. However, this thesis did not apply to one particular case and that case was the growth, if not maturation of Political Science in Chile as presented by Heine. Of course, one aspect for one thesis to be generally acceptable is that it must be to apply anywhere in the globe, so when Huntington claimed that political science will not flourish in an authoritarian regime, political must not exist or at least wither under the same regime. But it did, Heine proved that Huntington's thesis was falsifiable but also showed that not only did political science survived under the Pinochet's rule but it also became enriched because of institutional support empirical studies and rigor. This case gave new insight on better possibilities on how to enrich political science when faced with great oppression, this study could be beneficial in enriching and promoting political science in not only in present day countries that is struggling with authoritarian regimes but also for future cases as well.

    2. In Magstadt’s handout, he discussed power, justice and order, however, power has been well discussed so I had to enter legitimacy. Legitimacy is the willful acceptance of the government by the people. This is where in people acknowledge the legal and moral right of the government to govern. Meanwhile, order, as expressed by Rouessou’s social contract where the right to rule is based on the consent of the governed. This is where people voluntarily form stable sustaining cohesive units while justice is the virtue given to cases where there is disparity between individuals or groups. If we look at it at a closer eye, we find that these concepts are entrenched in the concept of democracy. Likewise, it must be learned and understood even protected and promoted if we are to continue to enjoy the blessings of democracy.

1.) Heine: The thesis of Huntington states that Political Science will only prevail if there is democracy. What makes it wrong in the thesis made by Heine is that, when Heine studied the status of the country Chile during the period of Pinochet as an authoritarian leader, Huntington's thesis flawed. There were many contributing signs which led to the establishment of the Political Science in Chile under an authoritarian regime. One of which is the emergence of the institutions which supported and financed the people who wanted to go further studying. Another would be the numerous journal articles published that time about politics in Chile. Also, one of the signs of the progressing Political Science as a discipline is that there were the existence of the master's programs. This showed that many individuals would like to go on further studying and finding ways to overthrow the rule of the authoritarian leaders and establish their own kind of government. The thesis of Heine only showed that, Huntington's thesis is wrong, athat Political Science will not only flourish in some democratic state but also in some of the authoritarian state like Chile before.

2.) The three basic concepts of political science that will be useful to us in the future would be Power, Politics and Government. Power is the capacity to implement the rules or laws needed in the state. It is highly needed in order to govern the state and its people accordingly. Government is the agency of the state where the policies of the state for the people are formed. It is also relevant in order to guide and govern the people in accordance with the law. Last would be politics. These are the rules set by the government for the people in order for the former to directly govern the latter. Also, it is the process by which people choose their leaders through suffrage(right to vote) to lead the state and make relations with other state peacefully. These three concepts basically determine the scope and the very essence of the field of Political Science. It is essential to know, so that one would likely be able to fully understand its field of discipline.

    1. One of the political thesis that is discussed in the class is the Huntington's thesis that with a greater participation of political science, a democratic environment will be stronger because the concept that democracy contain is the right of the people to express their opinions through various communication such as journals, radio and television that can be use to influence the society. But an authoritarian regime led by the General Pinochet in Chile proves that it is not only democracy that people can lead to express their opinions and become a moral one. Chile is flourished by the published political science work, invitations to the political scientist as a visiting professor in some parts of the world and by the establishment of the Faculty of Law and Political Science. Sociology is also related to political sicience which implemented various polls and interviews that led to a development of the two branches. The anti-thesis is Pinochet is an authoritarian leader which did not control the civil rights and more open to the development of the political science in chile. For Chile, democracy is not needed but a political system that can understand and promote political science in order to be well known to other world even though they experienced the military rule chile become stronger and foster the development of political science to make the authoritarian regime to an aend.

    2. The three basic concepts that for me can be useful in the future is power which can influence the government and the instrument to enforce laws and regulate the economy. Order that discussed the sequence that the government must have to avoid confusion and misunderstanding. Justice that concerns to the acceptance of the rule for the people and to have a stability to the order that the government have. The concepts in political science is applied to the approaches on how people view politics as an institutionalism and how people will behave with the morals that they have. With these concepts it can shape the society and the manifestation of laws that involves behavioralism, post modernism and rational choice that i can apply in order to govern the people in the near future properly and systematically.

    1. Samuel P. Huntington's thesis that if a Democracy is flourish then Political Science will also flourish. Huntington believes that the participation of the people is essential in a democratic government and is necessary because Political Scientist evaluate their behavior and without them Political Scientist have nothing left more to do.The said thesis is applied to Chile during the military regime of Pinochet. Democracy that time was not flourish because pf Pinochet's Dictatorship but Political Science was able to become a discipline of its own.Because Pinochet do not let the professors teach on universities they were able to focus more on Political Science and that lead to the publishing of many books and journals of political science. This proves that the thesis of Huntington cannot be applied to certain countries like Chile.

    2. Comparative politics is one, which helps me determine and understand more about the relationship of political structure and institutions. Another one is Political Behavior which help me know how people cast their vote through their behavior and can help me win their votes. Lastly is the Government because if I want o be a Public Official I need to know more about how the Government works and the duty of each branch.

    1. Explain one political thesis discussed/mentioned in class, provide the proofs, anti-thesis, and practical applications of such political idea.

    ANS:
In Heinrich Heine's thesis, he mentions Samuel P. Huntington's thesis about Political Science functioning and flourishing in only a democratic government. Huntington states that Political Science only flourishes in democratic environments but this was disproven by Heine when the rise of Political Sience happened in an Authotritarian government in Chile. Chile was under Pinochet, who was a dictator, and there were orders from him that the books on Polotocal Science, which were considered sibervisive (an attempt to overthrow the government). This burning of books meant for Heine that there are some Political Science going on and that there's only a matter of time that they flourish. The Faculty of Law and Plitical Science was founded in the University of Chile, also suporting Heine's disproval of Huntington's thesis. This idea from Hine signifies that Political Science is everywhere and that no matter what regime it is in, it will find a way to flourish, just as it did in Chile, as Hein has stated. In life, this idea may be applied to that of never giving up on something that is truly of enlightenment to a person and to his community.

    2. Explain 3 basic political science concepts that will be useful to you in the future. These must be from the photocopies and must not be among those discussed in class.

    ANS:
The three Political Science concept that will be useful for me in the future are Justice, Human Rights and Authority. Justice, as far as I know, means that every crime, there should be forgiveness with punishment and never revenge through punishment. Human Rights means that every person, regardless of race, color, ability, skill, knowlege or any other qualities, have the right to live, to liberty, to security and to have an adequate living for himself and his family. Authority means the strenght to do something that can influence others in a way that would benifit the majority and let them be able to have the morality and responsibility to do good to benifit if not all, the majority of his fellow being. This will be useful for me because these are things that can drive a person to change anything around him even bit by bit.

    1. I chose Huntington's thesis in which he said "Political science is not just only a discipline but also a moral one".He also said that it is impossible to a political scientist not to be involved when it is a political participation. It is stated that if the Democracy is strong then the politcal science is strong and also the same if the democracy is weak then the politcal science is weak. He stated that the Political Science contributed to the democracy. But Pinochet opposed this, he was a military dictator. The regime under Pinochet was the longest regime in Chile. H e took over the power, he burned books, killed people and he wanted the universities to be ruled by the military officers. He closed the parliament, he was strict about newspapers, televisions and radio. But after this regime Chie found itself much stronger than it is before.

    2. The 3 basic political science concepts that I think will be useful for me in the future would be Concept, Justice and Power. First is the concept because for me we can not proceed in to something if we dont have enough plans or ideas. Second is the Justice I think there would be no rules or laws if there is no justice, for me we all desereve to be treated right and equally. That's why if someone commits a crime or unlawful will they are sent to jail or they have to face the consenquences. But then again at the end of the day justice will be justice. Power for me because who will implement and create the law if there is no authority that can took over us and take incharge of the country.

    1. One of the political thesis that we have discussed in class was that of Samuel P. Huntington. Huntington argued that there can be no political scientists in a country that has no political participation because in a country that has no political participation, political scientists would have nothing to do. For instance, in a democratic country like the United States, political science has greatly developed while in some cases like China, political scientists are faced with the lime light. But Jorge Heine made an anti-thesis and argued that the relationship between political science and authoritarianism is much more complicated. Heine gave an example with the flourishing of political science in Chile under General Agustus Pinochet in a military rule. political scientists in Chile under the military rule paved their way through research, from topics like what went wrong to what does the military want until finally of how to democratize. This anti -thesis of Heine just proves that in whatever situation we are in, it cannot stop us from learning and seeking understanding about the empirical world.
    2. The 3 political concepts that I can use in the future are political ideology, international relation and policy persuasion. The first is political ideology, I can use this in the future when dealing with the understanding people, having an insight into what they believe in and what they stand for. Second is international relations, I can use this in interacting with people, making ties and understanding relationships. But most of all, i can use this political concept in climbing the ladder of becoming an ambassador of the Philippines. Lastly I can use policy persuasion in addressing the people into being involved in politics, talking to people about how they can make a stand and convincing people to fight for their rights. These political concepts will help me become a better person, a better student and a better citizen of the Philippines.

    1. 1. One political thesis that was discussed/mentioned in our class is Huntington's thesis. He argued there that political science is not all about the intellect, but also the morality. That it is not possible to have political scientists without the participation of the people. The political scientists would have nothing to do without the people. Political science without democracy is nothing. One of the evidences to justify Huntington's thesis is The United States of America, which is one of the richest and most powerful democratic country in the world. But there is one who contradict his thesis, and that is the Chilean Political Scientists. During the dictatorial reign of General Pinochet, political science was dying and was doomed, but Chilean political scientists did not give up and struggled to survive, with the help of other countries. They proved that you don't have to be a democratic country to have a strong political science, it all depends on how the political scientists will make the political science strong.

    2. The three of the basic political concepts that I think that will be useful to be
in the future are: Justice, Power, and Order. Justice, because I think that in our system today, there is no justice. Some people get punished for the things they didn't even really do, and I think that that is unjust. People should get the punishment they deserve and some people shouldn't be punished of the things they didn't do. Order, because it is needed in a country to be able to communicate with each other peacefully, without causing any problems or whatsoever. Without order, there will obviously be a lot of conflicts that may cause the downfall of the state or country. Lastly, Power, because only with power you
can implement or execute or promote justice and order in a country or state.

    1. I will use the thesis of McCormick on lottery and election. In his theory he cited Niccolo and Francesco in his work of election and lottery where the popolo are against the ottimati and the ottimati have a higher chance of winning elections with their wealth and resources. The popolo are at a disadvantage for the ottimati can easily use their money for better parties and interest groups and better speaking skills and reputation which is why we introduce lottery to level the playing field and have a randomized access for the not just the ottimati but for the popolo as well. This theory is used in the Florentine Republics in the time of Machiavelli and Guiccardini. There are no direct ant-thesis against this but the mere idea of dictatorship and oligarchy go against the very idea of lottery. This can easily be applied times now a days as most people use money to get better publicity in most elections. Proofs of this was presented in the Florentine Republic from the time of Guiccardini and Machiavelli. The fishbowl government is a better example of this theory in play as no one will predict the outcome but there can still be election.

    2. Vote Buying is a political concept that means one who sells votes in exchange for compensation in money or other valuables. This concept involves the voters selling out they’re civil duties to vote for a good leader to vote for someone who uses wealth to win election, which is a problem that was presented in McCormicks theory. Another political concept would be Power Politics which is a situation involving force usually coercion or involving coercion, where a person is threatened to do something or else something will happen that this person does not want. And for my last concept I choose Regimes, this is a concept which involves the ruler and the ruled. Regimes have two distinct classification; constitutional, where the ruler abides by the law and ensures effective restraint on political power, and nonconstitutional regimes that do not have constrained and have unchecked political power. Any of the concepts discussed would help in future references for these are “basic” concepts meaning they can grow to help in advancement.

    1. One of the political theses discussed in class was that of Karl Max which is Capitalism. It is a concept wherein privately owned goods and services are produced for profit in a market economy. In a capitalist economy, the parties to a transaction nominally determine the prices at which assets, goods, and services are exchanged. According to Marx, the normal operation of the capitalist system, through competition and exploitation, produces an ever greater number of workers who will eventually rise up to overthrow the system. There came about a proposal expressing disagreement with the principles of capitalism and its entirety, to expressing disagreement with particular outcomes of capitalism. And that gave birth to an Anti-Thesis which is called Socialism. Socialism is another Political concept that specifies that all people should be given an equal opportunity to succeed. Workers should have most say in their management and that society should be given somewhat equal shares of the benefits derived from labor.

    2. Three basic political concepts which would also be of great help in the future would be Power, Order, and Justice. Power is the ability to make people do what they usually don't. If I would ever become a politician someday, I would need to impose power to those whom which I govern. Order is a state in which the laws and rules regulating the public behavior of members in a community are observed and authority is obeyed. It would set limits to certain powers in a community in which equality would prevail. In relation to order, Justice is the quality of being fair and reasonable. It would therefore help in ensuring the people would get that they deserve; and that is an equal opportunity to their rights and privileges as members of the community.
